Leading NSW female driver Amanda Turnbull steered her 5-year-old bay gelding Chumlee ($2.10) to an amazing win in the Menangle Country Series Heat (1,720 metres) main race.
Chumlee came from back in the field in the final 200 metres, to pip Bathurst trainer and driver Nathan Hurst’s Tulhurst Ace ($8.60) in a stunning short half head photo finish, with Turnbull’s brother Mitch finishing third on Real Intentions ($4.10) for a Bathurst trifecta.
Chumlee with go on to race in a listed final at Menangle Park at a latter date.
While Amanda Turnbull stared in the main race, Mitch took bragging rights in the second race on the night, driving hot favourite Gentleman Red, while Amanda drove Written in Red ($1.50) to victory in face four and Nathan Turnbull scored a win with Express Pass ($1.30) in race four on a successful night for the Turnbull family.
