BOTH City Colts and Centennials Bulls couldn’t take to the field for round two of the Bathurst District Cricket Association first grade competition on Saturday as wet weather intervened.

Each team had their own reasons to feel confident coming into the match at Morse Park 1.
Colts were hoping to build of a successful opening round chase against ORC in their first round fixture while Bulls could feel unlucky not to get the better of Rugby Union in a closely-fought contest.
A strong run chase at Loco Oval in the opening round gave Colts confidence they could shoot for two wins in a row to start the season, but instead had to sit the Saturday out.
Meanwhile Bulls had come into Saturday’s match off the back of a three-wicket defeat to Rugby, a result which was decided with just seven balls to spare.
Captain Josh Toole was aiming to build upon his 92 at opener, and would have appreciated extra time in the middle before Sunday’s representative match for Bathurst against Dubbo.
Colts’ Tony Clancy said it’s a shame for his team to miss an opportunity to test themselves against some strong opposition.
“Everyone was really keen to have a hit after last week. You can’t do much about the weather though,” he said.
“It’s disappointing not to play them because you get to play against guys like Tooley [Josh Toole] and [Aaron] Seymour. When you play against some of the best players in the competition that’s when you can gauge where you’re at.
“It was good to get out there again with the guys last week … but it can feel a bit like going back to square one after the rain.
“Dan [Casey, captain] was down there early on and said there was plenty of wet patches in the outfield, though the pitch was fine.”
Although they’ve missed the chance to take on a strong outfit Clancy said Colts will still have to keep on their toes for the following match.
“We’ve got Rugby Union next week and they’re looking like a very good team this season so we’ve got to be prepared,” he said.
Colts will take on Rugby Union at Loco Oval in what will be the only match between round one-winning teams.
Bulls will get their opportunity for a season-first success when they face Bathurst City at the Sportsground.
Competitors in this season’s BDCA first grade competition will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last season’s one-day calendar, where some teams missed up to five games of cricket due to wet weather.
