The Cobras maintained their four-point buffer at the top of the league, out-lasting the Parramatta Wildcats for a 110-102 win in round ten action at the Auburn Basketball Centre.
McCorkindale said his team had to work hard to get the result against a committed Wildcats outfit.
“It was a tough game and we were missing some key players,” he said.
“They [Wildcats] took the lead in the first quarter and it was not until the third quarter we got the lead and broke away.”
McCorkindale maintained his season stats with a personal haul of 20 points and 20 boards.
Chemistry is a vital asset for the Cobras, with McCorkindale and his Cobras teammates Rob Meyrick and David Heyman all playing for the Hills Hornets in the Waratah League.
The Cobras next challenge is against the Sydney Warriors on October 29 at the Auburn Basketball Centre and McCorkindale is expecting another tough much.
“Last time we played them [Warriors] they had a full squad and it was a really tough game because we had a player missing,” McCorkindale said.
“There are a lot of teams that when they have their full squads, they are quite competitive.”
With the Cobras winning the early match against the Warriors 85-74 in August, McCorkindale will be hopeful of achieving a league double against his opponents this weekend.
