Tournament co-ordinator of the event, and head coach at the Bathurst City Tennis Centre Andrew Mitton believes the tournament is attracting some very good players from all over the state.
“Its good to see players getting out there having a go and participating in this event. Weather permitting it should be a great weekend of champagne tennis.'' Milton said.
Eglinton Club President Brian Dwyer is expecting a bold showing from his players who are ready to fire all the shots this weekend. The number one side of Garth Hindmarch, Brook Lynch, Les Moulds and John Bullock, who will be doing battle, have experience to burn and are ready to take on the big guns. This side were runners up last year and are ready to turn the table in what is expecting to be a real showdown.
Eglinton Club selector John Bullock believes we have the side to take on the big guns and will be right up there when the whips are cracking, don't you worry about that. Hindmarch and Moulds are in good form and will be hard to run down.
The Bullock - Lynch combination who played much of there tennis at the prestigious Eastern Suburbs Tennis Club in Sydney back in the 1980s are hoping to turn back the clock and are looking forward to the challenge.
Eglinton number two side of Brian Dwyer, Paul Clancy, Roger Giles, Kevin Tree and David Bant are ready to fire and will be putting the other sides to the test. Dwyer is no slouch when put to the test and is ready to let loose with his crafty style of tennis. Tree is peaking just at the right time and if he puts his game together he will have his opponents in panic mode.
Giles is another player who can play exciting tennis. The opposition don't want to let there guard down against this bloke of they will pay heavily. Bant is also playing good steady tennis so watch for a bold showing from this guy. Players are reminded play starts at 9am Saturday and 8.30am Sunday. Well folks its going to be on for young and old at this years event. So Bathurst get behind your players and be there or be square.
Can Eglinton bring down the tall poppy sides? I think we can. What ever the outcome tennis will be the winner. Lets hope Bathurst can bring home the bacon.
Good Hitting.
