It is exciting times for motorcycling in Bathurst, with the 2016 Australian Senior Track Championships to be run in conjunction with the annual Australian Long Track Masters and Masters Shootout.

The single day-night event, to be held at the Bathurst Showground on November 12, will be promoted by the Panorama Motorcycle Club and features six national championships in pro 250, pro 450, 500cc sliders, pro open women, dirt track sidecars and track (speedway) sidecars.
Panorama Motorcycle Club president Bruce Morgan said this year’s long track masters is expected to be high class.
“We have 140 entrants already, with two weeks still left until entries close, so we might be looking to increase the usual 12 on the grid to 15 to get through all the competitors,” Morgan said.
The event will feature 2015 FIM 250cc Youth Speedway World Champion Matthew Gilmore from Cowra, who also attended the Bathurst event last year.
“There’s a lot of interest in the event and the quality we have coming is unbelievable,” Morgan said.
“Having a world champion here is going to make the event high class.”
This year will see the Bathurst long track event be held for the 21st time and has usually attracts thousands of spectators, hundreds of entries and over 100 races and this year is set to be another benchmark for the competition.
Riders will be coming from all over the country, including local riders from the Central West, who were the first to send in entries and while total entrants have hit 140 so far, the cut off mark will soon be upon organisers, as they will want to get through the events all in one day.
The Grabham family will be well represented, with Ben, Brock, Edward and Damien all riding in the past and will be expected to race again this year.
Ben Grabham is a two time Australian 4 Day Enduro winner and has almost two decades of experience in motorcycling.
“We have some quality talent at the club,” Morgan said.
“It will be good to showcase the strong local talent and hosting both the championships and masters will make the occasion huge for Bathurst.”
It will be the third time the long track masters competition has been held at the Bathurst Showground since 2014, after the event moved from Blayney Showground when the Bathurst Harness Racing Club no longer had clashes with the Bathurst Showground.
