A theme is selected for the Spring Spectacular every year and this time the organisers have chosen to feature members of the Bathurst Gardener Club.
There will be 10 gardens on display on both Saturday and Sunday, all of which are close to town.
Spring Spectacular coordinator Anne Llewellyn said the best thing about showcasing these private gardens is that almost all of them are achievable for the amateur gardener.
“The gardeners themselves went around to all the gardens last weekend and they were bursting with ideas,” she said.
“I think they will be very inspirational for people.”
Eight of the gardens on show are smaller residential gardens, on average size blocks of land, while the remaining two, Bishop’s Court Estate and Miss Traill’s House, are larger properties that are regularly featured in the Spring Spectacular.
Ms Llewellyn said the owners of the properties will be in residence over the weekend and are happy to answer any questions people may have about their gardens.
Members of the public can visit the gardens on Saturday and Sunday between 9.30am and 5pm each day.
Tickets can be purchased ahead of time at the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre or from each of the gardens on the day.
The cost is $5 per garden or $20 for a pass to all 10.
Proceeds from the Spring Spectacular will go to the Central West Women’s Health Crisis Fund, 2BS/Lions Club Christmas Miracle Appeal and a Mitchell Conservatorium scholarship.
Ms Llewellyn said that by having the gardens all so close to town and much smaller than usual, people will have the opportunity to see most, if not all, of them.
She also advised people to be on the lookout for Sandra Ross, the wife of Better Homes and Gardens presenter Graham Ross, who will be visiting some of the gardens over the weekend.
Ms Ross plans new itineraries for Ross Garden Tours.
