Bishop’s Court Estate is hosting a Melbourne Cup fundraiser on November 1, from 1pm until 4pm, cost is $125 per person with all money raised supporting Bathurst’s Daffodil Cottage Wig Library.
Galleria boutique owner, Karen Orr, who is hosting the fashion parade at the event, said it is aimed at making local women battling cancer feel beautiful.
“We’re here to provide a service in helping women’s self-confidence; supporting the wig library is crucial to women in the community,” she said.
This year marks three years since volunteers Mandy Wilding and Heather Larnach founded the wig library to provide wigs for women battling cancer.
“We have about fifty wigs throughout the region at the moment and we also look after people staying in the Daffodil cottage,” Ms Wilding said.
Ms Larnach said that the money the wig library receives from the event will fund new wigs, giving regional women more options.
The wig library currently offers 200 wigs made of synthetic or real hair and are offered to regional women to rent.
Christine Le Fevre, who owns Bishop’s Court said it would be a great afternoon of fashion, fun and race fever, all for a fantastic cause.
Tickets to the event can be purchased from Galleria, 108 William Street Bathurst or by phoning 63344777.
