The usual Saturday night meeting has been shifted to Sunday, with Hurst to take two horses he trains to the south-west of Sydney.
Hurst will be driving five-year-old bay gelding Kiama Sutra in race one Fly Country Series Final Listed Classic (1,609 metres), whom he drove once previously in Parkes back in August.
The Matthew Johnstone trained horse finished second with Hurst in the gig and has ran second in his last two starts in Young.
Hurst said his recent form has been strong, including a win at Young on August 30.
Kiama Sutra will go up against Regal Ashes, who will be driven by leading NSW female driver Amanda Turnbull.
The Hurst trained and driven Tulhurst Ace will start from barrier one in race two AGL Energy Country Series Final Listed Classic (1,609 metres), who’s recent form has been up and down.
“His last run was really strong [2nd at Young],” Hurst said.
“His overall recent form may look bad, but he did not go to bad in those races.
“He has been working really well and has improved since training alongside Saloon Passage.
“He is not the fasted horse, but he has a start from barrier one, so if he can get out to a good start, we will see from there.”
Race two will also feature three Turnbull drivers – Steve, Mitch and Turnbull – and two Hewitt drivers – David and Scott.
Hurst will drive New Zealand-bred Saloon Passage in race eight Campbell Advisory Pace (1,609 metres) and will be one of the horses to watch.
The six-year-old bay gelding’s last seven starts have featured one win and four second-place finishes, with Hurst looking to take him one further on Sunday.
“He has been racing at Menangle consistently and he has got a good draw, so we expect him to be up the front,” he said.
“We will keep driving him on there [Menangle] and probably keep him racing there up until Christmas and see where we will go from there.”
“He’s a bit lazy in track work, but he has been working really well.”
Saloon Passage will be racing against in-form Lombo Kotakinabalu, who has won his last four starts, all at the Menangle Park Paceway.
Race eight will also feature the Amanda Turnbull trained and driven Tact Tate, another New Zealand bred horse.
While the Turnbulls are well represented, with Amanda and Mitch set for multiple rides, Bathurst trainer Peter Trevor-Jones will have two horses featuring at the Sunday meeting.
Crackerjack Jo, a six-year-old bay gelding, will be looking for his first win since July at Bathurst, in race four JLM Conveyancing October Stakes (1,609 metres) for Trevor-Jones.
Part-owned by Trevor-Jones, nine-year-old bay/brown gelding Beetson will be looking for his first win since November 2015 in race seven JMD Development Pace (1,609 metres).
Both of the Trevor-Jones trained gelding will be driven by Jason Grimson.
The main race, the Jill McGrath Franco Australian Trotters Final Group 2 (3,009 metres) will feature $32,400 worth of prize money, with no Bathurst people involved.
