Fire and Rescue NSW were called to the scene at 2.15pm after a fire was reported at the school.
“There was a small fire in the toilet block in the gymnasium,” Inspector Brett Jackson said.
“We evacuated the school and they [staff and students] made their way to the oval.”
Two crews of firefighters from Bathurst and one from Kelso were called to the scene.
“Our guys got in and extinguished it pretty quick,” Inspector Jackson said.
“It was extinguished within 10 minutes, but there was a lot of smoke in the gymnasium.”
Students and staff were allowed back into the school after a 30-minute period.
“We suspect it’s an electrical fault in the extraction fan [in the toilet block],” Inspector Jackson said.
