This year’s festival features one of Shakespeare’s most well known plays, Comedy of Errors, and producer Christopher Morgan said it is not be missed.
This play may be 400 years old, but he said the tale it tells is still very relevant today.
“If you’ve never witnessed Shakespeare this is a must-do activity. You’re going to understand why they teach this 400 years later,” he said.
“It’s got a bit of slapstick, it’s quite physical, the actors are quite close.”
And far from being a fancy affair, Mr Morgan has encouraged people to bring along a picnic rug, something to eat and enjoy the show
“It’s raw, honest Shakespeare, it’s the way he wrote the stuff. You’re sitting close to the actors and it’s not too high-brow,” he said.
“Four-hundred years ago, Shakespeare was performed to people standing up eating their lunch.”
This is the third annual Shakespeare Festival, and Mr Morgan has encouraged people to book their tickets early.
Performances are on November 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26. Tickets cost $25 adults, $20 seniors and $15 for children under 14.
Comedy of Errors will be held in the gardens of Abercrombie House with gates to open at 6pm and the show to start at 7pm.
