The annual event on the Turon River aims to pull out as many of the invasive fresh water fish as possible.
“It’s a great event and a good way for kids to start fishing,” event organiser Colin Gordon said.
“Good baits include Hawkesbury prawns, worms, corn, bread, dough and shrimp.”
Last year alone, 220 people attended the fishing event and pulled around 300 carp out of the river.
Entry to the two-day event is by gold coin with all funds raised to go towards restocking the Turon River with Murray cod and golden perch.
Prizes are on offer for a range of categories including for the heaviest and lightest carp, biggest redfin, biggest bag as well as a range of children’s prizes.
“There also a secret weight that has a $100 cash prize,” Mr Gordon said.
Registrations will be taken at the river, just over the bridge at Sofala on the left, from 7.30am on Saturday or 7am on Sunday.
Early registrations will be accepted on Friday at the Royal Hotel.
Fishing starts at 7.30am on Saturday and finishes at 2.30pm Sunday. Fish must be at the weigh-in prior to 3pm Sunday.
