Bathurst players lined up in the under 12, under 14 and under 16 Mitchell Cricket Council teams which travelled to Cowra to take on their Lachlan rivals.
The under 12s side which includes Cody Hall, Blake Kreuzberger, Aidan Lindsay, Flynn Taylor and Angus Parsons, were convincing seven-wicket victors.
Parsons took 1-5 off 2.4 overs as he finished off Lachlan’s innings, the hosts all out for 93 in the 33rd over.
The Mitchell under 12s lost just three wickets in the chase, Taylor seeing his side over the line in the 28th over with an unbeaten 21.
In the under 14s, Bathurst trio Cooper Brien, Charles Harris and Tom Lynch also celebrated a win as they and their Mitchell team-mates scrapped home by 15 runs.
Brien made 30 opening the batting as Mitchell reached 8-153 from its 50 overs.
“We got off to a really slow, conservative start,” Mitchell under 14s co-coach Trent Hemsworth said.
“We had certain goals where we wanted to be at drinks and second drinks. At first drinks we were well below that, but we hadn’t lost any wickets, so we were able at accelerate and really be aggressive in the middle and end of our innings.
“Initially we wanted 180 before the beginning of play, but the wicket was quite tricky and still quite moist and had a lot of grass cover.
“It was quite slow and difficult to score runs, so in the end we were pretty happy with what we got.”
Lachlan made a good start to the run chase, but Mitchell’s attack responded. As wickets fell, the pressure on the hosts mounted and in the end they fell just short at 7-138.
“They started off pretty well, at first drinks they were something like 2-45, which is where we had wanted to be when we batted,” Hemsworth said.
“I thought at the 30th over that we would well and truly be taken care of quite comfortably, but we just rolled on really well and I think our spell in the middle won us the game.”
The under 16s outfit dominated by Bathurst talents – Alex and Bailey Brien, Sam Hall, Nic Broes, Ben Mitchell and Brendan Pallier all in the starting 11 – went down by four wickets.
Sent in to bat by the Lachlan 16s, the Mitchell side was unable to see out its 50 overs.
Bailey Brien (32), Broes (29) and Ben Mitchell (32) all got starts, but the Mitchell 16s were all out for 162 in the 47th over.
The visitors worked hard in defence of that with Ben Mitchell especially impressive as two of his nine overs were maidens and he claimed 2-26.
However, Lachlan reached the 163 needed for victory in the 48th over.
