Some programs feature a mix of these genres, notably Ronnie Mac's extremely popular Sunday Morning Music between 9am and midday while mid-week Graham Pascoe has Morning Music (9-11am) on Monday with nostalgia plus Marg Hargans (Tuesday), Barb T (Wednesday) and Terry Fatseas (Thursday) all provide a mixture of tunes and styles.
Alan Taylor (Friday) adds interviews, a touch of jive and swing, all forerunners to rock and roll.
Further, following Graham Pascoe at 11am on Monday, Marcia Bonham presents the popular Melodies and Memories program and on Tuesday at 11, Laurence Wardman takes listeners on a Sentimental Journey.
On top of all this Jeff Cox has built a solid following with his excellent Sunday night program Here It Comes Again at 8pm.
All these are nostalgic music programs beyond mainstream listening; why not ‘tune in’ on 2MCE 92.3 Bathurst, 94.7 Orange or 2mce.org for streaming audience members.
On the jukebox
I HAD the pleasure of tuning in to Saturday Night Jukebox this past week and what an enjoyable night it was with a stack of requests from regular and new listeners.
That is one of the beauties of Jukebox, you as the audience have the chance to program the show as we play your requests.
Jeff Cox and Kay Dengate fielded calls from Bathurst, Orange, Oberon, Kelso, Eglinton, Duramana and Gormans Hill.
Requests varied from rarities by Bobby Russell (Saturday Morning Confusion) and Joey Deer and The Starliters (Peppermint Twist 1961) to better known tracks from Bob Seger (Old Time Rock’n’Roll).
If you haven’t ever tuned into Saturday Night Jukebox then take the opportunity this coming weekend when Retro Master Tim Williams is at the helm between 6pm and 10pm. Give him a call on 6331 0092 with your request.
