The three-year-old bay stallion fell in his last start at Menangle in October and was lucky enough to escape with some grazes to the skin.
We’re hoping he runs a place
- Trainer John McCarthy
Unfortunately, driver Todd McCarthy was not as lucky and required a plate and six screws for a broken collar bone.
Cobbity-based trainer and former Bathurst resident John McCarthy will have his other son Luke driving Karmic Fire at the Bathurst Harness Racing Club come Wednesday night.
“We’re hoping he runs a place,” John said.
“We trailed him at Menangle last Tuesday and he seemed okay and passed fit.
“He’s not a bad little horse and he’s matured quite well.”
The stallion is just one of McCarthy’s 20 horses at his Cobbity-based stable and before Karmic Fire’s fall, the stallion had won three of his eight starts and scored six placings.
Karmic Fire will start the Soldier Saddle Night 16 December Pace (2260 metres) from number two, in the first barrier and will be amongst one of the favourites come the 7.13pm start for race three.
McCarthy will come up against The Lagoon trainers Wendy Turnbull with Miles Above and Steve Turnbull with Fullon Boundary Bow, who will be driven by daughter Amanda.
