Three NSW Fire Brigade units, an ambulance, Hazmat unit and Bathurst police attended the blaze on Friday evening.
The fire was in the roof of one of the buildings that front Russell Street and did not take long to control.
The main Gas Works building was not impacted.
The fire has come just weeks after concerns were raised about security at the old gas works site.
Energy company Jemena, which has a long-term lease on the site and ultimate responsibility for the buildings, promised in September to review security at the site with a particular focus on the fencing.
The Western Advocate reported at the time that Jemena was seeking to get out of its gas works contract before the lease runs out in 2028.
