A number of prizes were awarded including – high school, primary school and small school.

Edgell Jog committee member Ray Stapley congratulated The Scots School for its win in the senior category.

“Scots School have won the senior schools section for a number of years and continually support the Edgell Jog,” Mr Stapley said.

Winning the primary school category was St Philomena's Catholic Primary School.

“St Philomena’s showed a lot of fortitude in the rain to win this year’s Edgell Jog primary section and will be out to win again in 2017,” Mr Stapley said.

Small school winner was awarded to regular entrant O’Connell Public School.

“O’Connell again showed their commitment and strength winning the small school section for third year in a row,” Mr Stapley said.

Awards for schools are based on the total student population for each school compared to the number of students who take part.

“We do get a pretty good response from schools, we get about 200 running or walking in the jog each year,” Mr Stapley said.

He said entrant numbers for this year’s Edgell Jog were impacted by wet weather, and while 1100 entered prior to the day, around 980 took part in the rain.

“It was just so wet that people didn’t come along,” Mr Stapley said.

The next Edgell Jog will be held on September 24, 2017.
