Bathurst Light Car Club member King competed in the Thunder Regularity Group C events which ran Saturday and Sunday.
Behind the wheel of his DKTV Signs sponsored Mazda MX-5, he lowered his personal best lap time down to 2:42.40 on his way to victory.
“Like most people, I didn’t come to Mount Panorama with any great expectation other than to enjoy the experience of competing on the most challenging and rewarding track in Australia,” he said.
“However, after the first two competitive sessions it became evident that I was doing fairly well in the point score, so I decided to knuckle down and focus on consistency rather than outright speed.
“I’m a member of the Panorama Mountain Men motorsport team, and fellow team members Stewart Temesvary and Glenn Thomas also achieved podium finishes in their respective groups. It was an absolutely huge weekend for all of us.
“It’s not often you get a chance to compete on the full circuit at Mount Panorama and take home a trophy as well. We’ll certainly be back again next year.
“I’d really like to pass on a special thanks to all the volunteers and officials.”
