Waterworld Central has lodged a development application with Bathurst Regional Council to operate the inflatable water park throughout January.
The water park is about the size of a football field and features slides, pools and water games aimed at children aged up to 16 years.
This is the first time Waterworld Central has brought the water park to Bathurst, though they have previously been to Dubbo and will also operate water parks in Bateau Bay and Moore Park over summer.
“We had an existing relationship with [Paddy’s owner] Liam O’Hara and he has wanted to bring us to town for a while now,” general manager Annika Osborne said. “We have recently bought some more equipment so now we have the chance to do that.”
The water park will operate daily from 10am-4pm with three-hour sessions available.
Kids will be issued a wrist band and will have unlimited access to the pools and slides during their session.
Adults can also wade in the pools but are restricted to using just the largest of the slides, the 50-metre Dino Slide.
Ms Osborne said they hoped to be open just before New Year but were waiting for approval from council.
“Council has been really helpful, though,” she said.
The DA for the temporary water park states that Waterworld staff will remain on-site around-the-clock and the complex will be surrounded by a 1.8-metre high fence.
They expect between 200 and 300 patrons each day and parking will be in the existing Paddy’s Hotel car park.
Music will be pumped through one speaker which, the DA states, will not exceed standard noise levels for the site.
