A Chocolate Orange is the latest offering from Mountain Murder Mysteries and is produced by Bathurst Theatre Company.
The show’s writer, and one of the actors, Melissa Docker said the production’s name is a play on the title of the 1971 crime film A Clockwork Orange, but the stories are not the same.
In this original play, the audience takes the chance to join the cast back in the 1970s as all the action takes place at the premiere of an eagerly anticipated movie sequel – A Chocolate Orange Part Two.
This is a seething, sexy murder mystery set deep in the glamorous worlds of celebrity and film making.
For those who come to the show, the drama will unfold as the corpse count grows and grows.
The cast includes a talented ensemble of young performers that will delight all-comers.
Lamai Thompson plays the role of Ivana while Matt Davis has been cast as Stanley, Melissa Docker as Wanda-Bee and Alex Woodhouse as Ottov Fokus and Officer Kinnel.
“We perform on the floor and between the tables, it’s very audience interactive,” Ms Docker said of the interactive show.
“We invite the audience up to help, they help guess ‘whodunnit’ at the end.
Mountain Murder Mysteries have held shows in Bathurst in the past and Ms Docker said they were very well received.
“Past audiences have got very involved, and being a murder mystery there’s the odd murder and the audience helps remove the bodies,” she said.
Ms Docker has encouraged audience members for A Chocolate Orange to embrace the 1970s theme and dress up for the night.
The three show production is on at The Carrington on Keppel Street, Bathurst on December 9, 10 and 17, however, the December 10 show is sold out.
Tickets to the show are $70 and include a two-course meal.
The evening commences at 6.30pm.
