Contractors Green Horticultural Group is carrying out a full reconstruction of the Alan Morse 2 wicket.
The work will see the re-orientation of the existing wicket to a north/south position, increasing from a four wicket table to a five wicket table and installing drainage.
Council’s Recreation manager Mark Kimbel said the work should take five weeks.
“Due to the nature of turf wickets, it is unlikely that the Allan Morse 2 field will be in a playable condition for the 2016/17 cricket season,” he said. “Council has been liaising with the Bathurst District Cricket Association over the past six months in relation to the timing of this project and they have made allowance this season for no play on this field.”
