Locals are being asked to find rubbish hot spots that need attention and register them as a clean-up site in preparation for Clean Up Australia Day on March 5.
Volunteer numbers were down at the 2016 Clean Up Australia Day event in Bathurst, which was blamed partly on the fact other events were being held on the day.
According to Clean Up Australia Day, more than three quarters of a million volunteers have removed the equivalent of more than 16,000 ute-loads of rubbish from 8205 locations across Australia this year.
