The previously undefeated Redbacks put up an almighty scare, coming up 22 runs short of the Centennial Bulls total of 8-270 off 40.
Redbacks batsmen Ben Orme racked up 109 for his side, but was ultimately not enough to get the result.
Bulls captain Josh Toole was back from Western Zone action and Aaron Seymour returned from injury.
Toole said the result was quite pleasing.
“We played pretty well, but they [Bathurst City] gave us a scare,” he said.
“Myself and Billy [Aaron Seymour] have missed some games and with others out, our results this season has not been a fair reflection of what we’re capable of.
“Our best side fielded and the result gives the guys some confidence.”
Mick Curtale topped score for the Bulls, with 93 runs.
John Kitchner was second best with 58 runs.
Aaron Seymour top scored with the ball, with 2-37 off eight overs.
Mick Curtale was the next best, taking 2-55 off six overs.
Even though Bulls dealt the Redbacks their first lose of the season, Toole is adamant there is plenty to work on in training this week.
“Fielding is something that let us down and you can’t drop that many balls if you want to win,” he said.
Next up for the Bulls is a match against ORC, who will be hurting from their shock lose to St Pat’s Old Boys.
The Bulls and ORC will face each other at Morse Park 1 on December 10, with the game starting at 1.30pm.
