The three-year-old brown gelding will be driven by The Lagoon trainer, who drove the horse to his last win at Peak Hill in June.
Sams Express finished first and second he his most recent trials, both in Bathurst last month.
Sams Express will be one of four Bathurst trained horses racing in the Young Car Wash Three Year Old Pace (1720 metres) at the Young Harness Racing Club.
Two horses are trained by Turnbull’s father Steve – Big Heart (driven by sister Amanda) and Adore Ruby (driven by Steve) – and Splash of Gold will be driven by Georges Plain trainer Bernie Hewitt.
Friday night’s pace will feel more like a Bathurst meeting then a Young meeting, with four Bathurst-based horses starting from the mobile from a possible six.
