Hanrahan took 40 minutes, 54 seconds to win the round three Bathurst race on Sunday ahead of juniors Andrew Knox (46.40) and Henry Palmer (50.13).
It was all over much quicker than when he placed 13th in the 25-29 years men’s category Half Ironman at Penrith in 4:42.20. That effort bettered his times from both 2015 (4:43.12) and 2014 (4:46.47).
“I did the Half Ironman last weekend and had an easy week, so I thought I’d ease back into it with a little one,” Hanrahan said.
“It was the third time I’ve done it and the best time I’ve done. The swim and bike were good, I was a bit disappointed with the run, but overall it wasn’t too bad.
“You are always pushing yourself in these short little ones, but I got through it alright.”
