The one-year-old black bitch won for the second time from eight starts, on the day.
Midnight Treat is trained by Forbes’ Raymond Smith and was bred from the Shakey Jakey dog and Midnight News bitch.
Smith said he was delighted with the result, saying he makes the trip out to Bathurst almost every week.
“We haven’t had her that long, so it’s real credit to Gaver Lodge,” he said.
“We just took over and put her straight in the series.”
Smith said he could not be anymore happier, with the bitch managing a win in such a short amount of time under his training.
“I have only had her a few weeks and she’s done a great job to win,” Smith said.
Midnight Treat became the first greyhound to win the Soldiers Saddle final from box seven.
Vast ($7.50) was gallant in second place for Lesley Hannaford of Bungendore.
Naughty Nathan ($9) rounded out the placings for Neville Brown of Catherine Field.
Bathurst hopeful, Stunning Lola ($11), was checked in the opening straight by Willie Blues ($4)
Stunning Lola never recovered, finishing last.
Race favourite, Tank The Weapon ($2.75), began to build a decent lead in the first turn.
Yet the fast feet of Midnight Treat never gave up and overtook leader Tank The Weapon in the final turn, before pulling away.
Midnight Treat managed a win by just over two lengths.
Naughty Nathan ($9) was drawn in box one and managed to finish third, after a frustrating start.
Jock Colley was the other Bathurst entry, who finished sixth.
The two-year-old red fawn was named after Parkes and Country Rugby League icon Wayne “Jock” Colley, who passed away in February 2014.
Bathurst Greyhound Racing Club racing manager Jason Lyne said the local greyhound performances was the only disappointment, on an excellent day of racing.
“Stunning Lola had no luck early and it was a tight start,” he said.
“But it was a fantastic and entertaining day, with the race going almost expected.
“I didn’t expected Midnight Treat to make the fence, who had 40/1 estimated odds.”
The Bathurst RSL have been supporting the event for over 20 years.
Over 200 fans made their way into Kennerson Park, with the crowd staying strong throughout the whole meeting.
Lyne said he was pleased with the crowd, with it being a long time since a large attendance made its way to the greyhound club.
