Luke Branighan, the man signed to steer the Tigers in 2017, is a former team-mate of St Pat’s coach Kurt Hancock.
Both men bring NRL experience to their respective clubs, Hancock having spent time with Newcastle while Branighan wore the colours of both St George and Cronulla.
“I’ve played a fair bit of football with him and against him, I think he will do a lot of good for Oberon if he gets the support of the community out there,” Hancock said.
“He is a very clever and classy footballer, he will bring a bit of footy smarts to the Oberon toughness and I think they’ll be up there next year for sure.”
Hancock is also excited at the prospect of Willie Heta coaching Orange Hawks next season and Peter Hickman returning to the helm at Mudgee.
