Easy Breeze held off his competitors to take out the memorial race in a time of 30.27 seconds.

Board was happy with his dog, the only male in the litter, and with the big $2500 prize money on offer.

Reservoir Risk trained by Peter Barnes came second, with Make Up Boy trained by Clifford Rushworth third in the final.

Lithgow trainer Terry Northey and brother of the late Alan Northey said Board deserved the win.

“Richard has been a good patron of the Lithgow track,” he said.

Northey said the well attended race meet had been going for 14 or 15 years and was aimed at being a good family and friends day out.

He thanked the many sponsors who made the memorial race happen including Lithgow Workmens Club, coal miners and family donations.

The other major race on the card was The Lithgow District Hotel Maiden Final and once more it was a visiting trainer who found success.

Bradley O’Neil from Wellington took out the race with Wishbone Cargo.
