There are 36 panels in total, each weighing 28 tonnes, which need to be put in place with a 250 tonne crane.
“It is quite an operation that has taken a lot of pre-thought with the erection of the panels,” mayor Gary Rush said.
“All the panels have been pre-cast on site and moved into place.”
During his site inspection on Tuesday, Cr Rush said he was “impressed” with the progress made since the base of the reservoir was laid.
“In speaking to Dean Windsor, the project manager, and Jack Goddard, the construction manager, it has been a real engineering feat and I have been impressed with the accuracy of [putting in the panels],” he said.
When complete, the reservoir will service 10,000 people in the area.
Cr Rush said another reservoir may be built within the next decade as the population continues to grow.
