It would have been a quicker trip between the two countries for Mark Harris, the mayor of the Cotswold District town of Cirencester, who visited Ben Chifley’s former home on Friday as part of a two-and-a-half day stay in Bathurst.
Cirencester, best known as the home of the Royal Agricultural University, is also the home of the ninth Earl and Countess Bathurst.
“I’ve been having a look around and really picking up on the connection between Cirencester and Bathurst,” Cr Harris said.
