Godbier will coach the Football NSW under 17 girls team at the 2017 Football Federation Australia Futsal National Championships from January 4-7.
"I have taken on the job of coaching the New South Wales Country under 17 girls because I don't do enough with football already," Godbier laughed.
"I haven't done a lot with Futsal for quite some time to be honest, but when the opportunity came up, I jumped at the chance because you just don't know what kind of doors it can open.
"I have got a couple of Mariners girls in there in my squad too, which will certainly help.”
Godbier is not the only Mariners coach who will take charge of a Futsal outfit at the nationals.
Adam Scimone (under 12 boys), Andrew Fearnley (under 13 boys) and Scott Mutton (under 15 boys) will also guide NSW County outfits.
Added to that is strong representation from Mariners players across the age groups, Godbier saying it is a reflection of the strength of football in the Western region.
"There are a lot of Mariners players and coaches that are going to be taking part for Country New South Wales, that's fantastic for the Western area,” he said.
"You've only got to look at the younger age groups of the Western Mariners last year and how they went to see how strong the area is. You don't have to come from a metro centre to be a good footballer and I think Football New South Wales are realising that.”
Godbier’s side, which includes Mariners’ Larissa Kilby, Charlotte Duffy and Teegan Hall, will play at the Blacktown Sports and Leisure Centre.
The coach is looking forward to the experience.
"It is going to be a new challenge for me and something I am looking forward to for sure,” he said.
"It is a very skillful game and because it is only five-a-side, it is very, very quick. I'd say it is definitely going to be a challenge for all of us, myself and the girls.”
