The SUV had rolled into the river just north of the Emile Serisier Bridge, and took more than half an hour to become completely submerged.
No one was in the vehicle at the time it went into the river.
“I was just driving across the bridge and at that time only the car’s nose was in the water,” onlooker Josh Sutton said.
“It took nearly half an hour for it to go all the way into the water.
“And then I watched it float four or five metres down and then it started sinking and went under.
“I’ve only been in Dubbo like six months, but I haven’t really seen anything like this [before].”
