Chifley Local Area Command Duty Officer Inspector David Abercrombie said there was allegedly an argument between two 13-year-old boys and a shopkeeper in a coffee shop in Durham Street on Monday.
“As a result, one of the males [13-year-olds] pulled a knife and allegedly threatened the shopkeeper and then ran off. The shopkeeper called the police and provided a very accurate description of the boys.”
Chifley Local Area Command crime prevention officer Senior Constable Sue Rose said: “There was a foot pursuit with one of them. He was arrested and taken to Bathurst Police Station.”
“He was interviewed in the presence of his support person and he made a full admission to the offence. He will be treated under the Young Offenders Act.”
Senior Constable Rose said the other boy has not been arrested and inquiries are continuing.
