Now we settle back to attempt not to break any of those new year resolutions, finish off those festive treats we didn’t get to open and prepare ourselves for what 2017 will bring into our lives.
I’d like to thank all those 2MCE presenters who gave up their time to keep the station operating over the Christmas/new year period, with many filling multiple shifts away from their regular programming commitments.
This year will no doubt hold many surprises, both good and bad, but here’s hoping you will enjoy remaining Tuned In to the radio station with the most variety, 2MCE.
Jukebox history
OUR flagship program Saturday Night Jukebox finished 2016 on a high note with a total of 2781 requests received for the year - the second highest total we have ever received.
It just failed to top our best-ever year in 2014.
A little later this month, Jukebox celebrates 25 years. It is an amazing fact that a program that started back in 1992 has been running continuously all that time.
There have been numerous presenters over the years, far too many to list here, but we must mention the late Bob Dengate, who was a mainstay of the program from its onset right through until his passing a few years back.
Jukebox is programmed by our many listeners who tune in each week and request their favourite charting tunes from the Jukebox era from the 1950s through to the 80s.
You can join that group by simply calling up the presenter on 6331 0092 each Saturday between 6pm and 10pm with your request. And you never know, this year we may just beat that 2014 record.
This is a call
AT 2MCE we keep a record of all calls we receive throughout the year from our listeners, whether it be making a musical request, ringing in to say they are enjoying our programming or to have a chat or even if it is to lodge a complaint.
Each call is important to us and we love hearing from our audience.
Of the calls received in the past 12 months we are able to gauge where our listeners are situated, with 63 per cent of our audience coming from the Bathurst area, 27pc from Orange and surrounds and the remaining 10pc from areas including Oberon, Blayney, Molong, Hill End and online through our streaming service.
Don’t forget you can find 2MCE FM on 92.3 in Bathurst and 94.7 in Orange for the best of variety in music, local information, news and weather.
