It might sound clichéd, but it seems to get harder and harder each year to squeeze just five appropriate candidates into each category.
Like always, it is a good indicator of the quality of sporting performances to look at the people who haven't made it on the list as much as those who have.
Every month so much happened in Bathurst in the world of sport - in almost every code there was a glut of good performers at local, state and national level.
But there can only be a limited number of candidates, and the list below is what we've come up with.
So now it is time for you to have your say and ultimately decide who are the winners.
To vote visit www.westernadvocate.com.au and have your say in each of the 10 categories to be decided: senior athlete of the year; junior athlete of the year; best coach; best senior team; best junior team, best event; and the outstanding performances on a local, state, national and international level.
The person who accumulates the most votes across all categories will be crowned the Western Advocate Sports Person of the Year.
Basketballer Will Cranston-Lown picked up the 2015 honour, joining previous victors Terry Roberts (2014), Jodie Simson (2013-12), Laurence Mifsud (2011) and Trent Copeland (2010).
Cranston-Lown is in the running once more this time around, having made the cut as one of the junior finalists.
So get online now and get your votes in, the winners will be revealed in February.
