Their opponents City Colts will try their best to hunt down the Tigers’ total of 345 this Saturday in the second week of their Bathurst District Cricket Association clash.
The strong tally of runs from ORC came on the back of a destructive performance from Dave Hitchick (125) and a marathon innings from Dave Glasson (78).
Tigers captain Trent Fitzpatrick believes his side are in a good position.
“At this stage of the game we’ve probably got our noses in front. At Loco it’s easier to score at compared to other grounds, given it’s smaller and has a quick outfield, but I do think we’re in a good position,” he said.
“Dave Glasson was superb for us. He weathered the storm early, respected the good balls and put away the ones he should. Dave [Hitchick], once he got his eye in, couldn’t be stopped.”
Fitzpatrick said Colts will likely get a similar wicket to bat on, meaning his side must be on their game.
“We have to be careful because Colts will bat all the way down. It will be good to have Angus Daymond and Trent Fardon back for us this Saturday,” he said.
“The wicket was a bit spongy at times and the ball tended to hold up. It was sometimes hard to hit off the back foot because of that.”
Tigers will be aiming for back-to-back wins over Colts following their round six win.
Though still a long way from finals, a win for Tigers will go a long way to helping their top four aspirations.
ORC currently sit fourth (19) while Colts (27) are second.
