Rhonda has seen many changes over the years in personnel and volunteers and has an immense knowledge of the station and its history. She is the face that greets you in the office and the voice on the phone and is an invaluable member of the station.
Over the years she has filled in for on air shifts at short notice, helped with everyday issues and problems, completed countless paperwork tasks, compiled presenters’ daily run sheets, sorted out accounts, helped with music requests and searches, filed and catalogued new music, taken studio and sponsorship bookings and so many more valued tasks.
Keeping up with the technology is a job in itself and Rhonda has seen it all from vinyl records and reel to reel tapes, to cart machines, mini disc players, cassettes, CDs and the computerised systems of today.
So when you need information, help or history of 2MCE, Rhonda is the person to seek and she is the voice you hear when you dial the office on 6338 4790.
Jukebox birthday
THIS week is the 25th anniversary of Saturday Night Jukebox on 2MCE.
Jukebox was initiated by Bob Dengate, Don Gordon and Peter Lyne in January 1992 with a studio full of 45s and LPs featuring the jukebox hits of our youth and has continued over the years with listeners far and wide tuning in through 92.3FM Bathurst as well as via the web on www.2mce.org
Jeff Cox is hosting this week’s Jukebox and will have plenty of great music lined up, but a more official celebration is taking place next month when Bob Dengate’s wife, Kay, will join Jeff to reminisce.
Meantime, phone in your request to Jeff on 6331 0092 from 6pm-10pm this week.
Raffle winners
CONGRATULATIONS to the winners of the 2MCE Business Raffle, drawn just prior to Christmas.
West Bathurst Post Office took first prize in the form of $12,000 worth of advertising with the station over the next 12 months.
This is in fact the second time that West Bathurst PO has won the major prize in the past three years.
Second prize went to Bridges Financial Services who obviously saw value in the offer, while third went to the HNS Canvas of Kelso.
Winners have been notified and a big thanks to all business owners who took part in the raffle.
With a number of consolation prizes for multiple ticket buyers, you will be notified shortly on how to take advantage of those prizes.
