Police now fear the man could have access to up to four firearms, all of which were discovered stolen from the property.
Chifley local area command duty officer Inspector David Abercrombie said police were continuing to search for the man who has been described as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance, 175 to 185cm tall, medium build, with a tan complexion and dark hair.
Inspector Abercrombie said the drama began just before 10.30am on Wednesday when emergency services were called to a home on Guyong Road, Blayney, about 35km west of Bathurst, following reports of a home invasion.
Police have been told a man forced his way into the home, threatening the woman inside with a firearm.
Although shaken by the incident, the woman was otherwise unhurt.
Inspector David Abercrombie said police had now confirmed four firearms were stolen from the property, along with other items and cash.
The offender drove from the scene in a black Ford Focus which belonged to the victim.
Police on Wednesday were searching for a suspect who Inspector Abercrombie said had known contacts “all over the Central West”.
Inspector Abercrombie said police are now appealing for anyone who sees the black 2012 Ford Focus sedan with NSW registration BQ48PK to contact them immediately.
