High scorers were hard to come by for Colts at the Sportsground on Saturday, as the team were all out for 153 off 69 overs.
However, some stumbles with the bat from Bulls late in the day will make for an interesting second week of cricket.
Bulls will resume on 2-12 in what will be a crucial day of cricket for their finals chances.
A big positive for Centennials is that their two losses so far were not their regular top order players – Brett Archer (5) and Lisa Griffith (2).
Andrew Brown, who will resume on four runs alongside Aaron Seymour, believes his team go into the second week’s play on top.
“It does say two wickets down on the board but for us it doesn’t really feel like that,” he said.
"We’ve still got Josh Toole, Mick Curtale, Josh Kitchner and Kyle Aubin to come.
“We’re happy with how we went. We bowled well from the start and kept good lines the whole day.
“The confidence is pretty high at the moment.”
After some failures from the top order Colts managed to put on a more competitive total thanks to knocks from middle order batsmen Jaden Ekert (49) and Tony Clancy (35).
Colts at one point were sitting at 3-7 but Brad Molenkamp produced an important knock of 15, feeding the strike to Ekert and allowing his team to rescue their innings.
