Officers have been told a man entered a service station on Orange Road, Blayney about 10pm on Sunday carrying a firearm.
The man then threatened the shop assistant and demanded money before he left on foot headed towards Binstead Street.
Officers from Chifley Local Area Command attended the location and commenced investigations.
They say it is unrelated to a frightening home invasion in Blayney last week where a man threatened an occupant being stealing a car to flee. That man remains on the loose.
Police wish to speak to a man who they believe can assist with their inquiries into Sunday night’s robbery.
He is described as being Caucasian in appearance and about 160cm tall with a large build and dark brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black and green long sleeved jumper with a white stripe through the middle and cream coloured pants.
No one was physically injured as a result of the incident.
