On Sunday night a service station attendant was held up at gunpoint by a man demanding cash before leaving on foot.
Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, a woman was threatened by a man wielding a firearm at her home in Guyong Road, Blayney.
Duty officer with Chifley Local Area Command, Inspector David Abercrombie said the two incidents were not related.
“They are very different descriptions [of the offender] and the firearms used in both incidents are also different.”
Inspector Abercrombie said Sunday’s armed robbery occurred around 10pm when a man entered a service station on Orange Road, Blayney, carrying a firearm.
The man then threatened the shop assistant and demanded money before he left on foot headed towards Binstead Street.
Inspector Abercrombie said the man is described as being Caucasian in appearance and about 160cm tall with a large build and dark brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black and green long sleeved jumper with a white stripe through the middle and cream coloured pants.
The suspect in Wednesday’s home invasion, who also remains at large, has been described as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance, 175 to185cm tall, medium build, with a tanned complexion and dark hair.
On that occasion the man burst into the property and threatened a woman with a firearm. He then stole cash, another three firearms (none of which are associated with Sunday’s armed robbery) and fled in the victim’s car, which was later recovered in West Bathurst.
Anyone with information on either incident should call call Crime Stoppers on 1800 3333 000.
