Parade is quite proud to not only call herself an Australian, but a Bathurstian as well.
She may be a bit biased, but is there anywhere better to spend Australia Day than right here in Bathurst?
The day is used to recognise amazing local people, who contribute greatly to this community, and to give a formal welcome to those who will officially become citizens after selecting Bathurst of all places to call their home.
Bathurst Regional Council definitely deserves praise for its wide selection of events, from a barbecue breakfast and activities at Eglinton, to an afternoon of water fun at the pool.
Parade is looking forward to seeing residents come out for Australia Day and showing the rest of the country that Bathurst knows how to celebrate.
Resolution up in flames already
PARADE is not a massive fan of new year resolutions, and she’s starting to realise how right she was to never make them.
As 2017 drew near, Parade made a silent promise to herself that she would be more active in using her daily planner.
The resolution was doomed from the very start, seeing as Parade didn’t actually purchase a new diary until the weekend just gone.
Less than one week with it, all she has done is fill in the birthdays of her family members and friends.
Parade will formally evaluate her resolution in December, but it looks unlikely she’ll make one next year.
Submit your vote
THERE is still time to vote in the annual Western Advocate Sports Awards.
The nominees have been announced, and Parade hears it wasn’t easy to narrow it down to five per category.
Men, women, young people, teams and events are all catered for in the awards.
To cast your vote, visit the sport section of the Western Advocate website.
People will be able to vote for a few more weeks, with the winners to be announced in February.
