That was the result in Thursday’s King Cain Bathurst Wallabies Triathlon Club short course event, with Gibson using a dominant run leg to take out the interclub race.
Gibson completed the 2.5 kilometre run, 200 metre swim and 16km bike leg in 42 minutes and 14 seconds.
Beau Rohr and Dan Benton filled the remainder of the short course podium.
The race wasn’t without its dramas for the Bathurst runner, who was taking part in just his second triathlon.
“I put my helmet on before I put my shirt on. Other than that it wasn’t too bad,” he joked.
“I’d been poking around in the last few weeks over the holidays on the bike and with a bit of swimming.
“I came down here with my son and thought I’d give it go for the holidays. It’s back to full-time running now.”
In the women’s short course event Abby Dean was the victor.
Shannon Short and Sian Potter filled the top three.
