That’s the name of the game for St Pat’s Old Boys when they continue their Bathurst District Cricket Association first grade match against competition leaders Rugby Union at The Scots School.
Pat’s will resume their innings at 6-268.
The job with the willow is nowhere near done according to Saints’ Matt Fearnley.
“I think it would be better for us to keep batting and get ourselves into a position where we can’t lose the game,” he said.
“Whether we need to score 310, 320 or more, that’s the aim. We don’t want to be pulling up short.
“We might up the ante but we don’t want to go out there and get bowled in just two overs. We’ll just keep on batting the way we are.
“We’ve batted really well so far and that’s what’s helped put us in a good position.”
Nic and Shane Broes made the most of a batting friendly deck to put on 97 and 54 runs respectively last Saturday.
It’s put Pat’s in the driver’s seat but quick wickets from the Bulldogs have the potential to swing the match in their favour.
Fearnley is hopeful his side can continue their good form with the ball.
“We have Ben Parsons in for Nick Millar. We’ve got myself and Ben to open and then there’s Ben Mitchell and Connor Slattery with his spin. We’ll definitely back ourselves with the ball,” he said.
Saints have so far produced a much-improved performance compared to their previous meeting against Rugby Union – a six-wicket defeat in November.
