Hutton and Corcoran forged a unstoppable partnership on the Sulman Park course and the main bunch weren’t able to formulate a chase.
The pair, with one lap to spare in their own race, lapped the field in an impressive display of teamwork.
Hutton won the final sprint over Corcoran while Harry Carter won the bunch sprint for third.
Corcoran’s winning intent was evident from the opening pedal strokes and Hutton was forced to react.
“Josh was keen to attack in the first 50 metres of the race and I noticed that the rest of the field weren’t too concerned,” he said.
“I knew he had good legs though and I jumped across to meet him by the end of the first lap.
“We set a good tempo and worked really well together. In the end we caught them while they still had two laps to go.”
Hutton was thrilled to see Corcoran dictating the terms of the race.
“He was the strongest rider of the day,” he said.
“I’ve helped mentor Josh over the last five years. Now he’s signed up with the NRS [National Road Series] team and he’s really stepped up to the plate.
“He’s not afraid to test his ability and he showed that on Thursday.
“It was great to have the family up there watching on and it’s great to be able to hop back onto the top step of the podium.”
