STEVEN Kane and Guy Smith once again drove their way to third place at the Bathurst 12 Hour, as they did in 2016, but for remaining co-driver Oliver Jarvis it was a first-time experience.

Jarvis managed to avoid the carnage in the opening hours of the race – a rough start which took the British driver by surprise.
“I am pretty happy I have to say, this is an incredible place and I don’t think I have ever been in a race as brutal as that,” he said.
“I have been involved in a lot of endurance racing but I have never seen so much carnage within the first three or four hours of a race.”
Jarvis said it was always going to be too difficult to hunt down the winning Maranello Motorsport Ferrari in the closing hour and the team opted to focus on securing the podium finish.
“We had a game plan and that was simply to stay on the lead lap. We didn’t have a great run up to the race due a lot of issues with the brand new car but the team did a fantastic job,” he said.
“It didn’t stay issue free throughout the race, but coming out third is a great result and a credit to my team mates. We didn’t quite have the pace of the Ferrari boys next to me and congratulations goes to them – we will take the third and celebrate tonight.”
Bentley Motorsport haven’t quite been able to crack the top spot.
The team have now earned a fourth place and two third place results over the past three years.
