Sadly, Arthur became ill with severe heat dehydration and we called the Paramedics.

Social Bowls
A very hot Tuesday saw Noel Witney and Ken Hartwig take the rink win and 23-12 win over Tony McNamara and Darrel Bellamy in the Tuesday Social Bowls competition.
The Witney team jumped first with a three but the McNamara team responded with two and two to take a one-shot lead.
From here however, the Witney team took control with a four to lead 7-4 and then ran away with the match with the McNamara team reaching double figures in the 17th end.
Paul Kennedy, Bob Jenkins and Jim Clark scored a narrow 25-23 win over Allan Clark, Barry O’Keefe and Terry Clark.
The Clark team took the early running and were 11-5 leaders after the ninth end.
With a four-end run for a 13 point gain from the 10th end, the Kennedy team were leading 18-11 after the 13th end but they then paused to let the Clark team back into the match.
By the 19th it was even at 20 all when the Kennedy team scored a five to jump ahead and the three in response from the Clark team was not enough.
John Hobson, Ian Warren and Gus Thurgood scored an impressive 29-13 win over Barney Lavelle, Harold Eves and Kevin Howard with the Hobson team showing no mercy in what was Harold’s first game as a new member.
Off the blocks with a four, the Hobson team announced their intent early but the Lavelle team came back to level after the fourth end.
However, the Hobson team kept scoring with a three in the fifth, a four in the seventh and another three in the ninth to lead 14-6 going into the 10th end.
The Lavelle team kept trying making double figures in the 17th end, but the Hobson team were simply too strong.
Tiger Smith, Ian Dews and Terry Burke collected a 24-16 win over Tony Hogan, Bruce Parr and Ron McGarry with the Smith team jumping to a 14-1 lead by the seventh end.
The Hogan team response was a five-end run for 11 points and the scores were 14-12 after the 12th end.
A six-end run for 10 points by the Smith team put the match out of the reach of the Hogan team, despite them scoring wins in the final four ends it was not enough to bridge the gap.
Cooler conditions were welcomed by the Friday evening Twilight Bowlers this week with mixed triples over 18 ends proving just as successful as the barbeque and drinks after the game.
Members were able to watch proceedings from the air-conditioned comfort of the Club as bowlers enjoyed playing on one of the best greens in the District.
Rink winners in the Saturday Afternoon Social Bowls competition were Tony Urza, Barry O’Keefe and Darrel Bellamy with a 30-7 win over Paul Kennedy, Barry O’Keefe and Gus Thurgood.
The Kennedy team scored first but the Urza team came back with a three and dominated the match from here.
By the 13th end, the Kennedy team had reached their final tally and the Urza team scored 15 unanswered points in the final eight ends to win running away.
In a come from behind 34-14 win, John Hobson and Tony Press scored on 12 ends to dominate Kerry Connors and Ron McGarry, who were in front until the ninth end.
In a five-end run from the eighth end for 12 points, the Hobson team took over the lead at 17-7 after the 12th and the Connors team were unable to fight back.
By the 17th it was 30-9 to the Hobson team and despite a strong finish by the Connors team, it was not enough.
Allan Clark and Frank Farrell teamed up to score a 21-11 win over Daryl Whitton and David Josh in a lead from the front performance.
By the time the Whitton team scored first points in the third end, the Clark team led 5-1 and were in full race mode.
The Clark team reached their final tally in the 14th end and gave the Whitton team the last six ends, but it was more than enough to seal the win.
Ken Hartwig and Terry Pickstone scored a 24-22 win over a strong finishing Allan North and John Banning combination, despite the Hartwig team being ahead 24-11 in the 21st end.
The Hartwig team scored on 14 ends but the final four end run for 11 points by the North team almost upset the apple cart.
Club Championships
Only the one 2017 Major Singles Championship match this week with Peter Naylor taking a last end win 31-230 over Tony McNamara. Naylor jumped first with a two and by the fourth end held a 5-1 lead.
A four-end run pushed McNamara into a 6-5 lead but Naylor responded with a three to grab the lead back at 8-6. In a real arm wrestle, McNamara seemed to be gaining the advantage by the 20th end and led 20-13.
By the 24th end the McNamara lead was down to 21-18 but a one and three pushed him to 25-18 going into the 27th end.
Naylor scored a two which was matched by McNamara and then Naylor responded with one, one and four to reduce his disadvantage to just one shot at 27-26.
A three in the 33rd end for Naylor gave him a narrow 29-28 lead and despite McNamara coming back with a three, Naylor finished with one’s in the final two ends to take the match.
Pennant players will have an opportunity to polish their skills at a Pennant Trial match with Bathurst City Club scheduled for the February 19 with details to be announced.
Don’t forget Twilight Bowls is on again this Friday afternoon at 5pm for all comers at Majellan. Nominations will soon close for the Majellan-Wallerawang Challenge, details are on the notice board.
