As Mudgee will host one event, Bathurst will host the penultimate round of the King Cain Solicitors Bathurst Wallabies Triathlon Club Series.
Bathurst Triathlon president James Kelly said the clash is unfortunate.
“We don’t know how it happened and we’re unable to change it, because we’ve made plans with the council already,” he said.
“We’re encouraging people to go to Mudgee, as a show of support.
“The Mudgee club sent triathletes to our event [the Bathurst leg of the Central West Interclub Series] which contributed to it being a great success.
“Any points accrued in Mudgee will be applied to the Bathurst Club Championship.”
Kelly said the quality of triathletes in the Central West is absolutely phenomenal and that the competition in Mudgee is expected to be strong, with some of Bathurst’s top triathletes to make the trip – Mark Windsor and Nick North.
The Bathurst triathlon will start at 8am at the Bathurst Aquatic Centre for the adults and the juniors at 9.30.
“We know a few new people coming down and the growth this year has been good for the club,” Kelly said.
