Rural Fire Service crews have been stretched to the limit responding to calls for assistance.
The first call came through from Billywillinga, north-west of the city, shortly after 2pm where the NSW RFS website reports that an out-of-control grass fire burning along Freemantle Road.
A second call for help came through from Limekilns about 3.30pm where another grass fire is burning out-of-control on Red Hill Road.
The third fire is reported on Gormans Hill Road and RFS crews are still determining the extent of the blaze.
It’s possible that lightning strikes associated with a storm that swept through the city have ignited the fires after a long, dry spell across the region.
