Cr Bourke first spotted the rams more than a week ago and said they appeared to have come into his paddock from the dried-up Raglan Creek that runs behind his land.
One is sporting 25cm horns and they do not appear to have been shorn for more than a year.
Cr Bourke said if the owner did not come forward he would have to give the sheep away.
“I don’t want them but I can’t see them suffer,” he said.
“That wool has to come off, particularly in this heat.
“I’ve put out some water for them but they can’t stay here forever.”
Cr Bourke said he did not know what else might be living on the creek bed.
“If there are rams down there I’m wondering if there will be five-legged frogs next,” he said.
