The fair, which is the major fundraiser for Eglinton Public School, is an annual tradition in the Bathurst district, attracting children and adults alike.
“It has been running for over 50 years and it does have a really good community spirit,” organiser Gisele Williams said.
“It’s really good to see the community keep returning to the country fair and new people keep coming all the time. It's nice.”
Ms Williams said the event will start at 9am on Saturday at Cubis Park, Eglinton and will feature some “fabulous entertainment”.
Aspire Gymnastics will be providing a demonstration, as will ballet students from Promenade Dance School and sports karate martial arts students.
Music will be provided by the Perthvillians and Eglinton band Serious Fun.
There will be mini jeeps, laser tag, mini golf and jumping castles, according to Ms Williams, and a $25 wristband will give the purchaser unlimited access to all rides.
Aqua blasters will help keep fair-goers cool if the day is hot, while there will also be an animal nursery and petting zoo.
Ms Williams said the dog show will feature categories including best-dressed, find the treats, egg and spoon and musical chairs.
“Students' artworks will be displayed in the hall and the theme is ‘summer is fun’,” Ms Williams said.
Twenty market stalls will be selling a variety of goods, including plants, produce and second-hand books, and there will be a barbecue, sandwiches, Devonshire teas, hot chips and lollies to keep everyone fed.
Community sporting groups – including the Eglinton Eels and Eglinton netball - will also be at the fair for those who have not yet registered for the coming season.
There will also be a kids’ craft workshop where participants can work on a variety of projects.
The major raffle will be drawn at 12.30pm, and the first prize will be $2000 cash. Tickets will be on sale at the fair.
Organisers had great weather for the fair last year and will be hoping for more of the same this Saturday.
